Editor’s note: this issue marks the third anniversary of Noticias de la zona residencial de San Diego, a feat that we are very proud of as well as humbled by, as we all believe our success would not be possible without the help of many people. We asked Councilmember Todd Gloria, who represents the district we serve, to contribute to this special occasion. Thank you for your kind words, Councilmember Gloria.
San Diego Uptown News celebrates three years
I am happy to congratulate San Diego Uptown News on your third anniversary!
San Diego has been the home of many community newspapers in my lifetime, and sadly many have come and gone. The success of San Diego Uptown News proves that factual, fair and fun journalism has an important place in our community.
It’s helpful for me to see how the events in which I participate and the actions I take at City Council meetings are perceived and presented by your writers. Of course, I read the paper not only to see what is said about me or what the latest caricature of me looks like, I read it to stay on top of everything else that is happening in our neighborhoods (after all, I’m aware that life does occur outside of the City Administration Building).
As an elected official, I depend on my constituents to provide input and tell me their concerns and positions on issues. Your publication helps make sure they have timely and correct information and news, facilitating their critical involvement in our government.
Your coverage of issues, your profiles of local personalities and your support of community businesses and non-profit organizations helps ensure that my neighbors and I are educated, informed and entertained.
I am thankful to the great team who produces San Diego Uptown News, and I look forward to continuing to work with you and read your paper for many more years.
Sincerely,
Todd Gloria, Councilmember District Three
