Local scholastic golfers are out on the links as a new girls season is off and running.
At The Bishop’s School, head coach Chuck Courtney inherits a squad that was co-champion of the Coastal Southern League last season.
According to Courtney, key players look to include juniors Denell Falk and Libby Hooton, and freshmen Courtney Gill and Alexa Bisbas.”
“These four players have previous competitive experience and probably will be our top players,” Courtney said.
Courtney said the squad is looking forward to a great season with the addition of the two experienced freshmen and the return of about five lettermen from last year.
“The girls are all working hard to reach our goal of returning to post-season play,” Courtney added.
At La Jolla High, new head coach Chris Spence takes over a squad that finished second last fall in the Western League.
The Lady Vikings will look to seniors Taylor Doyle and Bridget Kilgallon to lead the way.
“Both are excellent golfers and have individual CIF aspirations this year,” Spence said.
Spence noted that the team is young in general. Along with the pair of seniors, the Lady Vikings have one junior and five freshmen.
“We will be continually working on our fundamentals and hopefully improving each time we head out on the golf course,” Spence said.
” Editor’s note: La Jolla Country Day School did not respond to requests for information on its team.
