A pair of local boys golf teams have put their 2008 regular season numbers in the books, for the most part.
At La Jolla High, the Vikings finished 11-5 overall and 6-4 in league play for head coach Allen Merryman.
La Jolla beat Mission Bay twice, Scripps Ranch twice and University City twice. The Vikings also had good wins against Coronado and Crawford.
According to Merryman, Dylan Jackson, Ikaika Velasco, Riley Robertson, Nick Johnson, Cory Hunt, Simon Svedin, Kevin Mulvihill, Brian John, Emil Jaboori and Joshua Blevins were all instrumental to the team’s success.
“We did well when matches were close. We played solid at the end of matches and finished strong,” Merryman said. “I think we’re going to have a good team next year since we are only losing one senior.”
At La Jolla Country Day School, the Torreys head into the final week of regular-season play at 7-10 for head coach Bill Cahoone.
In action last week, LJCD fell to league champ Francis Parker, then lost a close one to Canyon Crest Academy, 213-218.
Seniors Sam Rogers and Grant Alter have led the team, each having been a medalist seven times.
