La Jolla landmark Girard Gourmet, known for its organic garden and the fruits and vegetables it yields, is celebrating the month of February with the unveiling of something a little different – handcrafted Valentine’s Day cookie art. Sweet Heart Cookies come in attractive gift boxes. They’re available through Feb. 14 and are the perfect gift for friends, families and sweethearts. Order by Thursday, Feb. 11 for personalized messages. The restaurant, which specialize in seasonal menu items for breakfast, lunch and dinner, has added the Sweet Heart items to its usual designer cookie line. It opened in La Jolla in 1987 and maintains an organic garden in Julian, where owner Francois Goedhuys recycles the scraps from his restaurant.
