A Downtown steakhouse with a very non-traditional theme is about to celebrate its 10-year anniversary, lasting longer than some may have expected.
The Gaslamp Strip Club, a member of the Cohn Group of restaurants – many of which are unique in their own way – is located at 340 Fifth Avenue in the heart of the Gaslamp District.
The restaurant is 21-and-up due to the risqué atmosphere, and has become a popular destination for bachelor and bachelorette parties, date nights and out-of-town conventioneer groups. The name “Strip Club” is a definite play-on-words, as pin-ups adorn the walls, menu and drink items are full of sexual innuendos and servers throw a little spice into the experience, as well.
The steakhouse serves cuts of beef, chicken, fresh fish and skewer combos to its customers raw, and allows them to “do the cooking” on one of several large flame grills located throughout the restaurant. Each entrée comes with salad and grilled toast, and a variety of other side dishes are available to share at additional costs.
The Strip Club has specials for every Padres home game and offer a full-service lounge menu, signature martinis and a private dining room and grill is also available.
Despite the constant flow of conventioneers, Executive Chef and Operating Manager James Stephenson said local customers have been key to the success of the popular restaurant.
“The locals are our bread and butter,” Stephenson said in a released statement. “We’re a constant in a area of town that is always in influx. When our guests come they know they are going to have a good time because they are going to have the same high-quality steak experience in a saucy atmosphere.”
To help celebrate their decade of business in the Gaslamp, the Strip Club’s staff is extending a special deal for San Diego locals, by offering a buy-one-get-one-free steak dinner on Wed., Aug. 15th. For more information, visit www.gaslampsteak.com.
