For the first timer, San Diego’s regional transit agencies will hold a Free Ride Day on Tuesday, Oct. 2 for all buses, Trolleys, the Coaster and Sprinter. San Diego has a growing and thriving network of transportation options that are crucial to help the region reach important objectives including its collective climate action plan goals and reducing traffic congestion.
As a part of National Rideshare Week, Free Ride Day is designed to provide people an easy way to leave their cars at home and discover the advantages of taking transit.
MTS and NCTD services will operate on a normal weekday schedule. Passengers will not need a Compass Card for either system. Participants who plan to choose transit on Free Ride Day are encouraged to RSVP through the MTS Facebook page event, or at the Free Ride Day webpage. When they do they’ll receive reminders about Free Ride Day, tips for taking transit and prize contests.
