Las Vegas is one of those places in the world you either love or you don’t care at all. I belong to the first group. Last weekend, I visited Las Vegas for the first time and it was a truly entertaining trip. With my finnish friend Ilona we went to see world-famous DJ Calvin Harris (from the first row!) to Omnia nightclub. I have never had so much fun in a nightclub. Scottish Harris arranged a two-hour dance party after which the audience was really tired because of the jumping. Last weekend was also the opening of the pool party season in Las Vegas. We attended a party in the nightclub Marquees and it was a perfect way to spend your afternoon. Good music, nice people, crazy situations and dancing – what else do you need? Most of the casinos in Las Vegas are like cruise ships; you don’t have to exit the building in need of anything. Hotels, restaurants, casinos, nightclubs and stores are under the same roof. The idea behind that model is simple: If you don’t go outside and see what time of the day it is, you are not ashamed to gamble 24 hours a day. Nowadays Las Vegas can be expensive, if you don’t know the right places to go. The drinks in nightclubs can be $20 to $25 each, so being sober in a club seems like a good idea. However, for the nightclub entrances you are able to sign in for guest lists, which allow people (girls) to walk in free. Las Vegas is for anyone who needs entertainment and adventure in her life. Have fun in a crazy city! (I’m Hanna Laukkanen, a 26-year-old journalist, who moved from Finland to San Diego for an internship in San Diego Community Newspaper Group. In this blog I will compare Finnish and American lifestyles and try to find out a lot more about the Californian way of living. Please send me feedback at [email protected].)
