‘Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas!’

44th annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights 
Sunday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 20

A special tradition of the boating community sponsored by the Unified Port of San Diego. The Parade of Lights will feature more than 80 boats decorated with sparkling lights and holiday décor. The parade route proceeds past Harbor Island, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village and Ferry Landing in Coronado. This year’s theme is “Christmas Around the World” and the procession starts at 5:30 p.m. on two consecutive Sundays. Visit SDParadeofLights.org.

Holiday stories, singalong and music
Sunday, Dec. 13

Betty Grant and Mary Holma from Storytellers of San Diego will be telling classic holiday stories along with tales of peace and funny pieces as well starting at 3 p.m. There will also be a singalong portion with “Jingle Bells” and other favorites. Musicians from The School of African Arts will be performing toe-tapping and clapping music from Zimbabwe. Film on the Fringe: ‘The 39 Steps’
Monday, Dec. 14

Ralph De Lauro, Film Program Director for San Diego Public Libraries, will be teaching this single session class at San Diego Oasis (third floor of the Macy’s building at Mission Valley Shopping Center, 1702 Camino del Rio North) from 1 – 3 p.m. The class will feature an early Hitchcock classic “The 39 Steps,” which follows Richard Hannay (Robert Donat) as he stumbles upon a conspiracy that thrusts him onto a hectic chase across the Scottish moors as well as into an unexpected romance with Pamela (Madeleine Carroll). $10. Gem Faire
Friday, Dec. 18 – Sunday, Dec. 20

The Gem Faire returns to the Scottish Rite Event Center (1895 Camino del Rio South, Mission Valley) with a three-day event. Admission is $7 for the entire weekend (children under 12 are free) and there is free parking. Over 100 exhibitors on hand will showcase fine jewelry, gems, beads, crystals, pearls, gold and silver and more. Jewelry repair, cleaning and ring sizing services will be available while you shop. There will also be hourly door prizes given away.
