• Come visit PB Elementary’s “crazy hair booth” at Pacific BeachFest on Saturday, Oct. 4.  We will be down at the beach all day spraying hair crazy colors and showcasing information about the programs at PBE.
• PB Elementary will be the site of the next Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools on Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 6 p.m. in Room 9.  Childcare is provided.
• The annual Penguin Pride Contribution Drive has begun.  Consider a donation to support PB Elementary. Visit www.fopbe.org to donate online.
• Family Fun Night is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 16 at Chipotle, located at 1504 Garnet Ave. Chipotle will give a portion of all receipts back to the school. CROWN POINT JMA
Students from Crown Point Junior Music Academy performed Sept. 17 at the Police and Emergency Services Appreciation Night to honor and thank police officers, firefighters, lifeguards and Park Rangers in the Pacific Beach Community. Crown Point’s violin instructor said, “It is always an honor to perform at events such as these. I am so proud of my students for representing our school well,” Mayor Kevin Faulconer, District 2 City Councilmember Ed Harris and volunteers from the Pacific Beach Town Council and Pacific Beach Women’s Club were among the many who enjoyed the evening. • Back to School night at Kate Sessions is set for Thursday, Oct. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m.  Parents are invited to attend a short presentation from their child’s teacher regarding expectations for the school year.  Dinner is available for purchase, and the Scholastic Book Fair will be in full swing in the library.  
• Sessions’ Parent-Teacher Organization thanks Mission Bay Sportscenter for providing paddleboards, kayaks and paddleboats and donating the use of its facilities to our families on Sept.14. Thank you for your continued support and for making this year’s annual Day at the Bay a super-fun family event.
• Sessions’ families enjoyed a delicious Family Dine Out on Sept. 17 at the Fish Shop. A big shout-out to the Fish Shop for its generosity.   FRIENDS OF PACIFIC BEACH SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Find the FOPBSS booth at Pacific BeachFest on Saturday, Oct. 4 and purchase your favorite duck for the annual Ducky Derby. Ducks are $5 each and will be sold from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Gather at the shore just south of Crystal Pier at 5 p.m. to cheer your duck on as it races to shore. The owners of the first five ducks to reach the beach win big prizes. All proceeds go to support student programs at PBMS and MBHS.
