Saturday, Sept. 10 kicked off the 52nd season for the Crusaders Soccer Club.
Nearly every local park and school grass will be teaming with 100+ Grassroots/Recreational and Crusaders Soccer Club Competitive teams playing in the So Cal Soccer League to “Kick Off” begin the 2022 youth soccer season.
With a hearty thank you to the more than 150 volunteer coaches, team managers and the Grassroots Division coordinators, and a strong cadre of professional coaches and volunteer team managers for our Competitive Teams, more than 1,300 boys and girls will be playing soccer this fall in their maroon and grey Crusaders Soccer Club uniforms. All the Grassroots and Competitive Team games are on Saturdays and some Sundays through Nov. 19. Stop by and take a few minutes to enjoy a soccer game.
The Crusaders Soccer Club Board of Directors want to thank our sponsors; 24-Hour Fitness and DIRECT TV. Their sponsorships help us with uniforms and equipment for our Crusaders teams.
Normally our Grassroots/Recreational games are within our community. For the Fall 2022 season, we are participating in a unique “I-15 Freeway Corridor” League for teams with players born between 2009 and 2012. We have several teams participating; they will be playing games with other teams from seven different clubs and communities adjacent to I-15 in San Diego County.
Last month, Crusaders Soccer Club sponsored a Special Introduction to College Night for both parents and players with college interest. The presentation was made by Renato Capobianco, head coach for Regis College in Boston, Mass.
Capobianco discussed the intricacies of placing and coaching students in college and specifically the role of parents in successfully guiding their child when he or she is interested in playing college level soccer. Capobianco was an outstanding player in his own right at San Diego State University and has more than 30 years experience ranging from U.S. National Men’s team administrator in the 1994 World Cup Games, as an MLS assistant coach and he has a strong background in youth development and college placement. The Crusaders parents and players were appreciative of the presentation and commented that Capobianco helped them to prepare for the next step in applying to college.
