In one of their closer contests this season, The Bishop’s School football team managed to escape with a 31-29 victory over Horizon last weekend.
Tim Costello had eight carries for 101 yards and two TDs. He also had three receptions for 133 yards and one TD. Quarterback Tommy Wornham was 4-of-6 passing for 138 yards and one TD, while adding eight carries for 72 yards and a TD.
Bishop’s had a 28-21 lead when Horizon’s Andy Sullivan scored with 1:46 left in the game. Horizon then converted on the two-point conversion, giving the Panthers their first lead of the game.
Bishop’s moved the ball quickly down field as Costello ran 16 yards on a reverse. Michael Strauss then caught a screen pass to put the Knights at the Horizon 49.
Wornham added a 19-yard run to put the Knights in field goal range. With two seconds remaining, Costello kicked a 29-yarder to win the game.
“I’m very impressed with the character of our team,” Bishop’s Head Coach Mike David said. “These players found a way to win the game.”
