This is an open letter to a board member of the Pennisula Community Planning Board regarding conduct at the most recent Jan. 24 meeting held at the Point Loma Library ” [specifically to] Mr. [Suhail] Khalil.
It would be important to your participation as a board member of PCPB to let go of your hostility during the public board meetings. Your outbursts toward Mr. [Geoff] Page, the chairperson, and continued shouting when you were called “out of order” is very unprofessional and disruptive to the meetings and is not a “patriotic way” to conduct yourself during a meeting under Roberts Rules of Order. And also to refer to other board members as “liars” when no facts are presented to back up your statements is outrageous and unacceptable under proper parliamentary procedures. Surely you must know that.
Our country would be in utter chaos if all meetings from the local level right up to the White House had rude and disruptive participants not following the guidelines of an orderly meeting. It simply serves no purpose and slows down the very arduous task of conducting business for the people.
Try to just be a cooperative board member so that the meetings can move forward.
Additionally, Mr. Khalil, anger will not serve you well. It does not make you look good in front of all of us at these meetings. I would suggest that you be mature and reserve your personal diatribes for private times. Otherwise it will affect your public persona and your health. And, of course, this conduct serves no goodwill in what you were elected to do … that is to serve the community. I, personally, do not feel you are serving my needs nor representing me in the Point Loma community.
Call a truce and get over the negative attitude.
Peace be with you, I hope.
