PACIFIC BEACH — Campland on the Bay adopted a new fundraising program called Campland Cares. It is the first of its kind in the San Diego tourism sector. Campland hopes to raise thousands of dollars for the Homeless Youth Outreach Program (HYOP) by asking campers to donate $1 per night of camping. All donations go directly to HYOP, a non-profit organization. The staff at Campland interviewed many area organizations and chose to support HYOP because it believes in the mission of the organization, which provides advocacy assistance and legal services to homeless youth ages 15 to 21. “The outpouring of support from Campland has been amazing,” said Kriste Draper, director of HYOP. Campland is the first campground to participate in the fundraising program through Hotels That Help. HYOP is part of the Children’s Advocacy Institute, a program founded by the University of San Diego School of Law. Campland on the Bay is located at 2211 Pacific Beach Drive.
