SD Beer Co. come to Downtown
HB Beer Co. will open the San Diego Beer Company, a microbrewery and restaurant at the Colonel Fletcher Building on Sixth Avenue and Broadway in Downtown.
The company signed a 10-year lease with owner Champion Real Estate Group.
The San Diego Beer Company will occupy the entire 6,822-square-foot ground floor and mezzanine space at the historic and newly renovated Fletcher Building.
The San Diego Beer Company will be patterned after its successful Huntington Beach Beer Company in Orange County, which was established in 1993.
The restaurant will feature an open kitchen with a wood-burning oven, large island bar and high-definition flat-screen TVs throughout.
In addition to its menu of salads, sandwiches, pizza, burgers and pasta, the San Diego Beer Company will offer eight handcrafted ales brewed on site, including its award-winning Huntington Beach Blonde.
The restaurant is expected to open in spring of 2008. For more information on the HB Beer Co. visit www.hbbeerco.com.
AGC recognizes premiere construction projects
The San Diego Chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America Inc. (AGC) presented awards for outstanding construction projects at AGC’s Build San Diego Awards banquet held on Nov. 1.
Six “Best of the Best” projects in San Diego were presented with a Build San Diego Award. A panel of judges evaluated the nominees in terms of excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques or materials, excellence in client service, contractor’s contribution to the community as it relates to the project and meeting the challenges of a difficult job.
Hensel Phelps Construction Company received an award for Building Construction-Private Work for the Smart Corner. The project is a signature mixed-use, transit-oriented development bordered by Park Boulevard, 11th Avenue, C Street and Broadway, located in Downtown San Diego. The project includes a 19-story, 301-unit residential tower and a five-story Class A office building with 90,000 square feet of office space and 25,000 square feet of ground floor retail space. Both structures are situated atop four levels of below-grade parking and they are separated by the San Diego Trolley’s City College Station.
