La Jollan Salerno joins NAPGCM
The National Association of Professional Geriatric Managers (NAPGCM) recently added a new member after La Jolla resident Dori Salerno, R.N., B.S.N, and PHN joined up.
“Becoming a member of the NAPGCM felt like coming home and a validation of my professional work as a nurse,” Salerno said. “I received my master’s in nursing from Georgetown University, where I completed my master’s thesis called GARP, a Geriatric Assessment Referral Program.”
Across the country there are more than 2,000 members of NAPGCM, which is an organization dedicated to the advancement of gentle and dignified care for the elderly and their families.
“As a Professional Geriatric Manager with Innovative Health Care Consultants, I work with client hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, retirement communities, physicians, psychiatrists, surgeons, families, fiduciaries and caregivers,” she said. “My role as a patient advocate, because of my professional role as a nurse, I am able to make a significant difference.”
