BOOK SIGNING WITH AUTHOR AND CREATOR OF ‘NO CRUMBS LEFT’
A book signing and conversation with Teri Turner, author and creator of the popular food and lifestyle blog “No Crumbs Left,” will be held at 6 p.m. on June 10 at Room & Board at Westfield UTC, 4525 La Jolla Village Drive.
To celebrate the launch of her new cookbook — “No Crumbs Left: Whole30 Endorsed, Recipes for Everyday Food Made Marvelous” — Turner is kicking off a national book tour across 20 U.S. cities. The new Whole30-endorsed cookbook is on sale May 21 and includes a passionate collection of recipes for everyday food made marvelous. It is currently available for pre-order now on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indie Bound and more.
After a lively talk with Rachel Connors of @bakeritablog and a fun Q&A session, attendees will receive a personalized book (included in the ticket price) along with the opportunity to take a photo with Tuner and Connors. Guests are also welcome to bring a previously purchased book to the event for Turner to sign. If you don’t need the book that comes with your ticket, Turner has offered to pay it forward to a Crumble who may be unable to afford the cookbook.

LA JOLLA SYMPHONY & CHORUS ANNOUNCES UPCOMING SEASON
The La Jolla Symphony & Chorus recently announced its 2019-2020 concert season featuring an adventurous mix of traditional repertoire, choral masterworks, premieres and more.
Highlights of the season include established masterpieces, like Brahms’ “Symphony No. 3” and Bartok’s “Concerto for Orchestra,” alongside first performances by Celeste Oram (Thomas Nee Commission) and Anahita Abbasi (Brenda and Steven Schick Commission) and a commissioned work for orchestra and amplified percussion by the great American composer Michael Pisaro.
The LJS&C completes its cycle of the Florence Price violin concertos with Co-Concertmaster Peter Clarke as soloist, and welcomes back San Diego Symphony Associate Conductor Sameer Patel as guest conductor in May. LJS&C also brings back the dazzling Keir GoGwilt in Schumann’s “Violin Concerto” and introduces 2018 Young Artist Winner violinist Ayrton Coehlo Pisco in a perennial favorite, the Mendelssohn “Violin Concerto.”
The LJS&C will also present its family-oriented annual Young People’s Concert at 7 p.m. on Nov. 1. The program features musical excerpts from the opening concert weekend, including Rossini’s “William Tell Overture.”
Performances take place in Mandeville Auditorium at UC San Diego. Concert times are 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday. The six-concert subscription series is available at an “early bird” discount rate through June 2019 of $185 general, $175 senior (65+), $60 student. Prices increase on July 1. RELIANT FUNDING EXPANDS ITS HEADQUARTERS
Reliant Funding, a small business finance provider, recently expanded its headquarters to encompass an extra 20,000 square feet. The company now occupies the entire second floor at 9540 Towne Centre Dr. in La Jolla.

WEST HEALTH’S SHELLEY LYFORD APPOINTED TO CALIFORNIA COMMISSION ON AGING
Shelley Lyford, the president and CEO of nonprofit, nonpartisan West Health, has been appointed to the California Commission on Aging by the Senate Rules Committee, with President pro Tempore of the California State Senate, Toni Atkins, leading the appointment as chair of the committee.
Lyford has been the chief executive at West Health for four years and has led Gary and Mary West’s philanthropic endeavors to lower healthcare costs and improve care for seniors since its inception in 2006. She has worked tirelessly to advance the organization’s mission through a combination of applied medical research, policy, advocacy and outcomes-based philanthropy.
Lyford led West Health’s development of several innovative models for senior healthcare, including launching the Gary and Mary West Senior Dental Center for low-income seniors in 2016 and opening the Gary and Mary West Senior Emergency Department at UC San Diego Health in 2019. Under her guidance, the Gary and Mary West Foundation awarded 518 grants totaling more than $211 million for healthcare research and social services for seniors and their caregivers. Lyford also serves as vice chair of the board of directors for Civica Rx, a not-for-profit generic pharmaceutical company that will help address drug shortages and lower the high prices of lifesaving medications.
