In addition to the picnics, Frisbees and strolling residents, the sixth annual Art in the Park summer exhibition is coming to Plumosa Park.
On Saturday, July 15, Point Loma Artists invite San Diegans to come down to the park, 2680 Chatsworth Blvd., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enjoy artwork created by local artists from Point Loma, Ocean Beach and the Loma Portal neighborhoods.
The event features original artwork in different types of media including oil paintings, water color, acrylic paintings and collages, jewelry and sculptures.
The free art exhibition allows people to meet and speak with the artists about their creative works, which will shown and sold.
“It’s just fun for the community to know that they have really fine artists living in their midst,” said Point Loma Artists President Beverly Brady. “It’s nice to know that you have art work by talented local artists.”
The Point Loma Artists are a group of about 34 members who live and create artwork in the area. The group is comprised of artists from diverse backgrounds who specialize in a variety of styles, including painting, sculpture and pottery, Brady said.
The exhibition will also have live performances by Alpine Daze and Boogie Nights, playing “feel good music” from the 60s, 70s and 80s. There will also be a live performance by an Irish fiddle player.
