Albion San Diego will take on Chattanooga FC at Finley Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in a rematch from April 16 when the team from Tennessee came out with a 5-0 victory at Canyon Crest Academy Stadium.
Albion was without some key players for its NISA regular season opener that day including defender Ernest Mitchell, but have only given up one goal in the last two games, which includes a 1-0 victory over Gold Star FC Detroit City on May 7. The team, led by head coach Diego Gomez, had its most recent match versus the Savannah Clovers scheduled for May 14 postponed due to travel issues for the team from Florida.
Chattanooga FC has already played six times this season and currently sits undefeated on top of the standings with 14 points including a 1-0 victory over Flower City Union on May 20. Chattanooga is led by 2022 NISA Golden Boot winner Marcus Naglestad and forward Taylor Gray who have been a major part of their team scoring 11 goals so far in 2023.
This will be the second of three matches between Albion and Chattanooga FC with the final one coming on Sept. 10 at Canyon Crest Academy. Albion will have three more games left on its road trip after Wednesday versus the Savannah Clovers on May 27 and back-to-back matches against Club de Lyon on May 30 and June 2. Albion San Diego then returns to take on the Maryland Bobcats on June 15 followed by three more home games, which will include a rematch of last season’s championship game versus the Michigan Stars on June 24.
