The Urban Dictionary defines “Boss” as an expression from the 1950s meaning super cool or awesome. Bird” as in Chicken and “Kitchen” because everything is made fresh in the kitchen daily.
“Boss also means that I’ve empowered all of my employees to own their process and take ownership of the restaurant, the customers, and making sure everyone is happy. They’re the bosses,” said Scott Cliv owner.
“We want to be your neighborhood go-to chicken joint, the local gathering place, where you can enjoy a great meal for an affordable price, and visit with friends. You will not find TVs here. We prefer conversation and interaction with your dining companions. In addition, we want you to pay attention to the food. We’ve worked hard to make you an amazing meal,” added Cliv.
“I love regional cuisine. Some people think our chicken is similar to Nashville cuisine. However, we have our own California-centric cuisine. We create our spices with nuanced flavors. Our salad dressings are made fresh in-house. Everything except for our French Fries are made in-house. We found that people prefer a crispy fry and fresh potatoes weren’t crispy enough for our clientele,” said Cliv.
On the menu are all things chicken (except for the recently added Adobo Glazed Meatloaf). Choose your level of spiciness: Standard- which has a slight kick, Cali Hot which is spicy with a hint of sweetness (another tip: you can ask for this without the chili oil for a less spicy option), Hot Mess a spicy- pyro dust with their blend of chilies or Seared seasoned with BBQ spice with a slight kick.
Wing boxes are super popular and come with different flavors such as Beer BQ, Garlic Parmesan NY Buffalo, or Chili Lime dry rub.
Some unique side dishes that you must try are the White Cheddar Grits, and the fluffy mashed potatoes made fresh daily. The fresh green beans and corn biscuits come with the meals, but you can order them separately also. Save room for the desserts, either the cookies that are not overly sweet, the Peanut Butter Pie, or the Buttermilk Pie with Chantilly Cream.
