A group of 16 senior football players who have led their team to an 8-2 record and high seeding in upcoming CIF playoffs was honored on “Senior Night” before the team’s final league game last week against Canyon Hills.
Accompanied by parents and siblings, each player walked across the field between cheering lines composed of their teammates, cheerleaders, and coaches.
A summary of their time at PLHS and future plans was read over the PA system during their walk, most noting this ends their football career although several plan to play at the next level.
Many noted the lessons learned playing with teammates including bonding with others, uniting to pursue common goals, learning to show sportsmanship, and the fact hard work pays off.
The team’s seniors include Jackson Emerson, Drake Cobb, Noah Turbeville, Bobby Hovey, Nicolas Vegas, Emmett Jacobson, Cameron Lucas, Noah Allen, Chase Lowary, Jack Kelly, Vincent Pelayo, Max Umberg, Diego Huerta, Hunter Whitman, Jack Tuohy, Charles Romero, and team manager Isabella Logan.
The team is currently competing in CIF playoffs.
