MTV will be casting in Pacific Beach on Saturday, June 19, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for a spot in an upcoming episode of its reality show “Made.” Whether it’s a lack of confidence, thinking one isn’t cool enough, or maybe one just never had the opportunity, MTV’s “Made” attempts to transform wannabes into doers. One local male or female wannabe surfer, age 15-22, will be selected to work intensely with a surfing coach for 4-6 weeks in San Diego. The coach will train the chosen candidate to become a surfer. All he or she needs to possess is a passion to learn. The goal is that after weeks of core work, balance practice, running and surf instruction, the willing participant will be able to surf down the line, turn, and more. The casting call will take place at the San Diego Surfing School, 4850 Cass St. MTV approached Souf Tihhi, the school’s owner, about hosting the casting call and Tihhi was happy to participate. “It’s very challenging for people who’ve never done it,” Tihhi said of surfing. It requires a lot of upper body strength, he added. It will be challenging for whomever MTV chooses to take on the challenge. Those auditioning should expect a 10-minute interview and most likely a waiting line. Candidates don’t need to bring anything except their personalities.
