You don’t have to live on the Peninsula to enter OB Exposed!: the Ocean Beach Historical Society’s Photographic Impressions of Ocean Beach and Point Loma – your love for the area is qualification enough. On Friday, May 22, the historical society might just decide it loves you back.
That’s the date the society will pick the winners of its annual photo contest, to be held between 6 and 8:30 p.m. at the Ocean Beach Masonic Center, 1711 Sunset Cliffs Blvd., featuring drawings for prizes from local vendors and a larger historical photo display than in years past. The society seeks old and new photos in color and black and white; the only qualification, as you might imagine, is that the images must reflect items in OB and/or Point Loma.
As many as five pictures per entrant are welcome, with a $100 first prize and a T-shirt up for grabs. There’s a $25 second-place award as well, with kudos for best in show, best color, best black and white and best historic images. There are also categories for kids under 16 and professionals, although the pros aren’t eligible for prizes.
Photos must be submitted by Wednesday, May 20 to the OB Business Center, 4876 Santa Monica Ave., between 9 and 5 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. A $3 entry fee is required, and the business center will provide the entry forms.
The historical society is not responsible for lost or damaged photos.
