Matthew J. Dunn, 39, died of blunt force injuries to his torso that he suffered when his 1999 Ducati motorcycle collided with a Toyota Acura driven by a man in his 20s at 2700 Garnet Ave. on Aug. 18.
Police said the eastbound Acura made a left-hand turn into the path of the westbound motorcyclist and the two vehicles collided. The victim was transported to Scripps Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The police traffic division is investigating. — Dave Schwab Congressman Scott Peters (D), representative of California’s 52nd District made a special guest appearance to the Pacific Beach Town Council on Aug. 21. Peters is in favor of a “no budget/no pay” policy for Congress and separating records for Pentagon and Veterans Affairs to make them more manageable.
Peters’ visit included an update on the latest in Washington, D.C., after which he fielded questions from residents on topics like healthcare, energy, Veterans Affairs, why the Walter Reed Hospital in D.C. is closed on the weekends and — in relation to the Bob Filner scandal — a better way to vet candidates.
Peters’ overall message was the importance for all members of the political spectrum to set aside differences, work together and find solutions. — Keith Antigiovanni
