The Friends of Pacific Beach Secondary Schools (FOPBSS) will host its eighth annual “Blues by the Bay” silent auction fundraiser soon to bolster the coffers of fund-starved campuses.?The event is slated to take place at the Mission Beach Woman’s Club on Sunday, May 20 from 5 to 9 p.m.?”This is our largest fundraiser of the year and a great event for the community,” said FOPBSS president Pam Deitz. “We have a lot of teachers, staff and parents that attend and it has really blossomed into a fun night.”?All proceeds for the Blues by the Bay silent auction will be split between Pacific Beach Middle School and Mission Bay High School.?Deitz, who is also president of the Mission Bay High School Alumni Association, said the cost of the event will be $20 at the door, which includes dinner catered by Da Kine’s Hawaiian food, beverages and live music by “Big Daddy Blues.” The items that will be auctioned off total more than $40,000.?The FOPBSS was founded eight years ago and is a joint parent-teacher nonprofit organization serving PBMS and MBHS.
