MISSION BEACH — Ocean Experience Surf School and Camp Wet and Wild are uniting for the fifth annual surf camp for handicap and disabled people starting today, July 26. In conjunction with the San Diego Park and Recreation Department Therapeutic Services Division, Ocean Experience Surf School will host a four-day surf camp at Mission Point and South Mission Beach Jetty. The focus of this program is to provide participants the opportunity to experience the thrill of surfing. Campers will explore all the fundamentals of surfing, including balance training on the Indo Board, paddling progression, the “pop up,” catching waves, water safety and oceanography. In addition to surfing, Camp Wet and Wild will also offer kayaking, outrigger canoeing, crafts, special exhibitions and a field trip to SeaWorld.
