The San Diego Breakfast Club of America will host its first Wheelchair Tennis Tournament and Luau during a charity event Saturday, June 16.
Nearly 50 disabled and wheelchair-bound professional, semi-professional and recreation-oriented athletes are expected to participate in the unique event, slated to take place at the Barnes Tennis Center in Point Loma, 4490 W. Point Loma Blvd.
Dick Enberg, a local and national sports broadcaster, will call the championship match with Jim McClaren at 5 p.m.
Proceeds from the event will go to Sharp Rehabilitation Center Services for sports recreation and wellness programs for the disabled.
Funding generated by the event will be used to help improve the lives of those who have suffered from serious illnesses and injuries, according to event organizers.
The San Diego Breakfast Club is a national membership-driven business development organization that serves various businesses throughout the community.
