MISSION BAY — The Marina Village in Mission Bay will host a dinner gala on Sunday, Sept. 12 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of House of China. The Chinese cultural museum located in Balboa Park began in 1935 with a vision to boost the local economy, instill civic pride in San Diego, and attract foreign exhibitors. Today, House of China continues to give back to the Chinese-American community by promoting, presenting, and preserving Chinese culture and friendship, and advancing the interest of the local Chinese population. The gala will feature entertainment from the San Diego Chinese Music Ensemble, lion dancers, Touch of Opera, and the San Diego Chinese Folk Dance Ensemble. Donors Tom Hom, Ed and Ellen Wong, Nancy lo, Peter Quon, Denise Leon, David and Sharon Dare, and Carmen Hom will be honored at the eventfor their contributions to House of China’s preservation efforts.
