George R.R. Martin, creator of “Game of Thrones,” will be visiting UC San Diego on May 2 to talk about his life and work. The event, sponsored by the Arthur C. Clarke Center for Human Imagination, will occur at the Price Center Theatre on campus at 7 p.m. Also speaking is Kim Stanley Robinson, author of the Mars trilogy. As some may know, George R.R. Martin is currently working on the sixth book of his Song of Fire and Ice, named The Winds of Winter, and has cut back on public appearances to focus on his work. Thus, this event’s announcement is a pleasant surprise and we look forward to Martin’s insights. Tickets will be available April 7; you can purchase them online starting at 10 a.m., in person at the Price Center Box Office, or over the phone at 858-534-TIXS. General admission is $40, $20 for faculty and staff, and free for students with student ID.
