I am a resident of Point Loma and just recently returned from a trip to Ventura. They have just remodeled many of the businesses downtown. The most striking difference between Ocean Beach downtown and Ventura is the sidewalks.
In Ventura the sidewalks are spotlessly clean. What a nice, “We care about our little city” attitude.
Now, compare that to the gum, oil spots, surfer’s wax and gobbled-up appearance of Ocean Beach sidewalks. Do you care? Not according to our walks.
How much would it cost for the businesses of Ocean Beach to divvy up the cost to have the sidewalks pressure cleaned? Perhaps even buy a pressure cleaner and hire some guy to do it yourselves? Or share the cost among the businesses? Or get a fund-raiser contribution from the Wednesday vendors by creating a Clean Up Newport Avenue Fund?
We try and do keep our beaches clean. Now, how about our sidewalks?
