I have lived in La Jolla long enough to witness the deterioration of sidewalks in downtown La Jolla and the prolonged absence of streetlights throughout the community not to wonder if autonomy from the city of San Diego may bring some remedy to these defects.  Although I realize that my view is quite narrow and the issues of autonomy are much broader and complex, I am willing to jump off the precipice into the unknown and the new, rather than continue in La Jolla’s seeming current limbo. — Kristina Webb lives in Bird Rock.
