DOWNTOWN — San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders will join citizens and dignitaries including Joan and Irwin Jacobs and several former San Diego mayors for the historic groundbreaking of the new Central Library today, July 28 at 10 a.m. Scheduled speakers include Mayor Sanders; State Sen. Christine Kehoe; City Council President Pro Tem Kevin Faulconer; school board President Richard Barrera; Stacey Aldrich, California State Librarian; and Joan and Dr. Irwin Jacobs. The groundbreaking will take place at the corner of 11th and K streets.
