Police nab suspects in street-robbery series Patrol officers with the San Diego Police Department’s Northern Division patrol officers and others with the Western Division arrested three suspects Oct. 6 who were linked to a series of recent street robberies, including three cases in Pacific Beach. Investigators said the suspects were also linked to similar pedestrian robbery cases in Hillcrest and University Heights. Police officials said the incidents happened in Pacific Beach roughly between 11 p.m. and midnight from Sept. 21 to Oct. 4. In all cases, the suspects were described as a pair of Hispanic males who threatened the victims with a knife. The three Hillcrest and University Heights cases happened between Sept. 21 and Sept. 28. In one of these cases, the suspects were seen getting into a small, white car driven by a Hispanic female described as heavyset, police said. Shortly after 11 p.m. on Oct. 6, patrol officers located the apparent suspects and apparent getaway driver near the intersection of Dawes and Maryland streets in the wake of yet two more attacks minutes earlier. As the officers approached the two men, one dropped a knife. Nearby, officers located a heavyset Hispanic female in the driver’s seat of a small, white car. All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery. The suspects’ identities are not being released because the investigation into the previous cases is continuing. The two Hispanic males, ages 22 and 23 years, and the Hispanic female, age 38, are all residents of Spring Valley. Police urge anyone with information about these or other related crimes to call the police department at (619) 531-2000 or the Western Division at (619) 692-4800.
