On Thursday, Jan. 4, at 9:08 p.m., the San Diego Police Department Communication Center received multiple 911 calls regarding a shooting in the apartment building located at 2850 Adrian St. The first police units to arrive found a white female lying in a hallway at the top of a stairway. Officers saw that the victim had sustained multiple gunshots to her body. Not knowing the location of the suspect, officers carried the victim to an area of safety and began CPR. Unfortunately, the victim was later declared deceased at the scene. Additional officers began searching the apartment building for the suspect and found a white male lying just inside an apartment located on the second floor of the building. The male had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head. Not knowing if other suspects were inside the apartment, SDPD SWATS Units were called to the scene and cleared the suspect’s apartment. The suspect was declared deceased at the scene. No other suspects were identified. San Diego Police Homicide Detectives were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident. The preliminary investigation has shown that the suspect and victim were in an argument, when the suspect shot her multiple times. The suspect then shot himself. It is unknown why they were arguing. The suspect and victim were in a dating relationship. They have been identified, but their identities will not be released pending family notification. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Homicide Unit at 619-531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
