The San Diego Padres have acquired infielder Jurickson Profar from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for catcher Austin Allen and a player to be named later or cash considerations, executive vice president/general manager A.J. Preller announced.
Profar, 26, hit a career-high-tying 20 home runs for the second consecutive season in 2019, batting .218 (100-for-459) with 24 doubles, two triples, 67 RBI and 65 runs scored across 139 games for Oakland. The switch-hitter was successful in 9 of his 10 stolen base attempts (90%) in 2019 and is now 19-for-20 (95%) over the last two seasons, the second-highest conversion rate in the majors over that span (min. 20 attempts). 
The Willemstad, Curacao native has made 191 career appearances at second base, 104 at shortstop, 89 at third base, 44 at first base, 38 in left field and 35 as a designated hitter.  Profar spent the first nine seasons of his professional career in the Texas Rangers organization and is a career .234 hitter (378-for-1616) with 80 doubles, 11 triples, 52 home runs, 197 RBI and 222 runs scored in 491 Major League games. He played for Netherlands in the 2013 and 2017 World Baseball Classic and was selected to back-to-back Futures Games for the World Team in 2011-12.
