A 21-year-old male and 24-year-old female were fishing on the OB Pier at 1:25 a.m. on June 18. A male was driving his car on the pier in a reckless manner. He sped off and struck both the male and female. They suffered only minor bruises. Both victims were treated by medics and released at the scene. An officer was in the area of the pier and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. However, the vehicle sped away and officers were unable to locate it. When the suspect fled the scene he sideswiped an unoccupied marked SDPD police vehicle. The officer was not injured. The suspect driver was described as a Hispanic male, in his mid 20s. He had a beard, a heavy build and was wearing a white T-shirt. The vehicle was described as a black, 2005 Acura hatchback, with a lowered suspension. It had a cracked windshield and custom wheels. A partial license plate number was obtained. However, further follow up will be conducted in this investigation in order to confirm the plate.
