On Feb. 27, volunteers from the San Diego chapters of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence and Moms Demand Action, along with other community and religious organizations, will officially join forces, presenting a united front to those wishing to maintain public safety and responsible gun ownership. The name of the new coalition is San Diegans for Gun Violence Prevention or SD4GVP. www.sd4gvp.org. SD4GVP will continue to pursue responsible gun legislation through our local and national representatives, and address specific issues of gun violence including domestic violence, suicide, mass shootings and accidental shootings. The coalition will also help promote gun safety measures throughout the community and in our schools, and educate the public about the epidemic of gun violence in this country and how it can be prevented. The launch event for this coalition from 7 to 9 p.m. on Feb. 27 at Flex Space, 9484 Black Mountain Road, will include presenting speakers who have been victims of gun violence, along with activists, politicians and religious and community leaders who are standing strong in the attempt to prevent the epidemic of gun violence.
