The PacWest Conference recently released the volleyball preseason coaches’ poll, with Point Loma predicted to finish fifth.
One season after finishing ninth the Sea Lions will look to a young roster, featuring nine freshmen and three players coming off of redshirt seasons, to push them back into contention. Along with this young new group, the Sea Lions will have honorable mention All-PacWest selections Cara Keturakis and Samantha Krakower to give the team some veteran stability. Concordia was picked as the PacWest preseason favorite with 10 first-place votes and 189 points. California Baptist came in a close second with three first-place votes and 179 points. Dixie State was voted third, and Azusa Pacific fourth ahead, of the Sea Lions. The Point Loma women’s volleyball team will kick off their season on Sept. 1 when they host the Seaside Invitational. It will face the defending national-runner up, Alaska Anchorage, and West Regional qualifier Simon Fraser, on the opening day of the tournament.
