The San Diego City Council Dec. 8 voted unanimously to select Councilmember Sherri Lightner, whose District 1 includes a Jolla, to serve a second term as council president. “I am honored that my colleagues have chosen me for a second term,” stated Lightner. “I’d like to thank all my colleagues for working together to make the past year so successful and productive. We have a lot to accomplish in the coming year, and I’m looking forward to continuing to work collaboratively with the mayor and council to tackle the challenges ahead.” Lightner, who terms out in 2016, said she will continue to work with Mayor Faulconer and council on priority initiatives, including public safety, water reliability and sustainability, budget stability, infrastructure improvements, restoring and expanding rec center and library hours, economic development, the Climate Action Plan, City Charter revisions, cyber-security and the promotion of the San Diego-Tijuana megaregion.
