Before it was the very popular Kono’s, the Canteen Club was slinging hash at the foot of Garnet Avenue. My notes indicate that I took this photo in December 1986. Holy cow — that’s nearly 25 years ago!! Speaking of birthdays, Crystal Pier — which hardly looks a day over 70 at the foot of Garnet Avenue — will turn 85 on April 26.
