French 101 opened in August as a French bakery, brassiere and lounge, underwent a swift change in name to become Bistro 101 and has now closed its doors for good. The restaurant served croissants and eggs Benedict by morning and offered a strobe-lit dance floor by night. Once the site of the Hard Rock restaurant at 909 Prospect St., renovations have already begun on the interior of the property by the new lessee, US Entertainment, which expects to open a new establishment within three months but wouldn’t divulge further details. French bakers Jacques Pautrat and Didier Pellerud, who own a few dozen French bakeries in California, opened French 101.
