Mayor Jerry Sanders takes a look at Gillispie School students’ solar art displays with Student Council President Claire Klein at the school’s Feb. 29 solar panel celebration.
Gillispie School interim Head of School Margie Edwards accepted a framed document from the mayor proclaiming Feb. 29 “Gillispie School Day” for its comprehensive sustainability program.
Sanders also helped “flip the switch” to power up an array of 276 solar panels installed Aug. 15 with support from an anonymous donor.
The school has also begun a new sustainability curriculum called Gillispie del Sol.
