A waterspout spotted off Torrey Pines touched land as a tornado the evening of March 29, a local television outlet confirmed.
Lifeguards reported the waterspout one mile offshore of Black’s Beach at 5:35 p.m.
The waterspout moved east and made landfall as a weak tornado at 5:38 p.m. just north of the Gliderport. It then dissipated. No injuries were reported.
Waterspouts are extremely rare off San Diego County, although seven were reported during the winter of 2007. — 10NEWS
