
SUNDAY, Sept. 4 El Mission Bay High School class of 2012 will host a summer concert from 5 to 9 p.m. to benefit next year’s graduating class. The event will feature the Big Daddy Blues Band at the Victor residence, 3838 Kendall St. in Crown Point. A $20 donation is requested, which includes pizza, salad and dessert. There will be a beer and wine bar donation only. SATURDAY, Sept. 17 The Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) will host its 18th annual Classic Longboard Surfing Contest for surf enthusiasts of all ages. The event is an “old school” Southern California contest for surfers on longboards (9 feet or longer only) vintage 1969 or earlier, no leashes. This will be an end-of-summer homage to the golden age of surfing. The event takes place at Crystal Pier at the foot of Garnet Avenue in Pacific Beach. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the contest beginning at 8:30 a.m. OMBAC donates the proceeds to support beach access for beachgoers of all abilities. WEDNESDAY, Sept. 28 The Pacific Beach Town Council will host its 31st annual Police and Emergency Services Appreciation Night (P.A.E.S.A.N.) to honor and thank firefighters, police officers, lifeguards, paramedics and park rangers for their protection and service to the community.
