
In cooperation with the Cabrillo National Park, on Saturday evening, May 18, 2019, the Cabrillo National Monument Foundation will celebrate its 5th annual “Cabrillo Under the Stars.” Attendees will enjoy local fare from popular restaurants (Little Lion, Ketch, 3rd Corner, etc.), craft beer and wines provided by local brewers and vintners and auction items. And of course, the ability to enjoy the park “after hours” with its spectacular sunsets and night-time views of the lights of San Diego and the Bay is a rare treat for anyone.

UC San Diego is hosting a blood drive in partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank. Anyone 17 and older, who weighs at least 114 pounds, and is in good health, may be eligible to donate blood. A good meal and plenty of fluids are recommended prior to donation. All donors must show picture identification. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment to donate, but walk-ins are welcome.

La Jolla resident Bree Schuman has been hired by Cavignac & Associates as an account manager within the company’s commercial department, announced Jeffrey W. Cavignac, CPCU, RPLU, CRIS, president and managing principal of the downtown San Diego-based risk management and insurance brokerage firm.
Bringing to Cavignac & Associates 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, Schuman serves as the primary contact at the agency for her assigned clients, responsible for managing their exposure to risk, negotiating insurance, and generally ensuring all their service needs are met. Among other duties, she is responsible for endorsement processing, billing and cancellation issues, reconciling audits and contract review.

The Little Mensches put together over 200 bags of food at the Jewish Family Service’s Hand Up Youth Food Pantry to hand out to those in need. The group also engaged in other tasks to help the food pantry reach those in need in the community.
