This free arts event takes place on the First Friday of every month from 5-9 p.m. throughout the 28-acre campus. After 10 years, it has grown into San Diego’s biggest innovative arts event. Meet working artists, enjoy dance, theatre and music performances featuring community partners and discover intriguing public art installations. Find new art for the New Year at First Friday Arts District on Jan. 3. This is San Diego’s most unique, fun and authentic event to find locally made art and gifts. Experience the arts with live performances by San Diego Dance Theater highlighting “Janus IV.” Explore Shewanders Photography selfie station and hands-on sticker art-making at Barracks 19. Plus, enjoy new “Open Late after 8” live music at The Lot. Visitors can start their stroll at the Dick Laub NTC Command Center, 2640 Historic Decatur Road and pick up a monthly program and map. Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary welcomes guests to enjoy a night of outdoor ice skating at the Rady Children’s Ice Rink. Located in Luce Court just outside the Dick Laub NTC Command Center. Open until 10 p.m. Building 176
San Diego Dance Theater will present a preview for “Janus IV,” their annual repertory show held in late January at Saville Theater at City College. Bringing the highest level of dancers to this event, company dancers will showcase snippets of “Janus IV” and promote the excellence in performing arts at Arts District Liberty Station. Audiences will see choreographic excerpts from artistic director Jean Isaacs and SDDT alumni Liv Isaacs-Nollet.

Walk the Labyrinth: Only after dark, guests are invited to walk the projected interactive art installation featuring the interplay of technology and ancient form. Barracks 17
MK Envision Galleries welcomes guests to enjoy the last chance to see the exhibit featuring San Diego fine art photographer, Lee Sie from 5-9 p.m. Barracks 19
Shewanders Photography creates a cool backdrop for you to tell your “beginning” story. Stop by Barracks 19 and bring your camera phone. They will help you get the right shot. There will also be copies of Wanderlings the Zine for sale from 5-8:30 p.m. June Rubin Studio hosts Hands-On Sticker Art making for all ages in her studio gallery, in conjunction with her “Gone Bananas” art show. Participants will make an artwork of their choosing out of mainly stickers and take it home with them. Join the fun from 5-8:30 p.m., second floor.
