
Experience all the Arts District has to offer is by attending a free Friday Night Liberty art walk. Taking place on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 9 p.m., Friday Night Liberty is San Diego’s biggest free monthly art event. Meet working artists, enjoy dance, theatre and music performances, visit museums and galleries and explore the growing Arts District. Visitors can start their stroll at the Information Desk in the Dick Laub NTC Command Center at 2640 Historic Decatur Road and pick up a monthly program and Arts District map. The San Diego Museum Council hosts Reuben H. Fleet Science Center’s Make a DNA Necklace program. A scientist will help guide you in extracting DNA from wheat germ, which you’ll put into a small plastic container … then you can attach it to a necklace! San Diego Comic Art Gallery host celebrations for its newest exhibit, Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, featuring art from the six issues mini-series published by DC Comics and IDW Publishing. Artist Freddie Williams II and TMNT co-creator Kevin Eastman will be on hand to sign and sketch for fans. Please limit outside items to five. 6 to 9 p.m. in Barracks 3, ground floor. California Hardwoods and Dave Ness Photography features Spirit of the Wave. These images look more like paintings capturing the spirit, light, movement and energy of the waves. Point Loma’s Bill Riley is also showing his bronze sculptures depicting native island surfers paddling out, and Michael Panetta’s glass sculpture waves bring three dimensional waves into your home.
