

SDWP’s new, improved site
The San Diego Workforce Partership (SDWP), which provides funding for adult and youth programs as well as information on the current and future labor market, has launched a new website.
Workforce.org is a new resource that has been under construction for the last year while the company received input from staff, funded partners, board members, community associates, training providers, policymakers and those looking for jobs.

Hershey Felder returns to The Globe
Hershey Felder, a playwright and Steinway concert artist, will perform three critically-acclaimed, musical one-man shows at the Globe Theater throughout the summer.
“George Gershwin Alone” will have 13 performances from July 1 through July 10, “The Great American Songbook Sing-Along” will run from July 11 through July 17 and “Maestro: The Art of Leonard Bernstein” will run from July 22 through Aug. 28.

WitKids up for classy award
WitKids is a non-profit organization at 1501 India St. whose goal is to empower children through monthly community service learning projects. WitKids was recently nominated for a Classy Award in the “Small Charity of the Year” category and needs help to win it.
WitKids is asking for “Likes” on its Facebook page at the Classy Awards website. The organization’s goal was 500 by June 1, although by mid day it had only acquired 368.

SANDAG public workshops
In an effort to gain public support and input on the Draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan—to make $196 billion in improvements over a 40-year period—the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) will host seven public workshops throughout the month of June.
The next four meetings will be held: June 10, during the SANDAG board of Directors meeting, at 401 B St. on the seventh floor; June 13 from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center at 140 East 12th St. in National City; June 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the San Marcos City Council Chambers at 1 Civic Center Dr.; and June 21, at 4 p.m. during the Regional Planning Stakeholders Working Group meeting at 4050 Taylor St.

Registration now open for EASEL art fair
Registration is now open for the EASEL San Diego Art Fair to be held on Sept. 3, 4 and 5 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The event, which reportedly sold out in three days last year, showcases local and guest artists, is sponsored by Alexander Salazar Fine Art and will be located at 1070 Seventh Ave. A three-day pass to the event is $5, and original artwork will be for sale, all under $5,000. For $100, artists can participate by providing a 60-inch tall by 40-inch wide painting on their own easels.

SOHO announces two new summer tours at the Marston House
In addition to new extended, summer hours Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO) has announced that the Marston House at 3523 Seventh Avenue will introduce two new summer tours.
The first new tour is the Marston House Garden Tour, which will take visitors through the five-acre estate, visiting the 1905 landscaping as well as the 1928 formal garden.
The Historic Seventh Avenue tour will visit the 3500 block of Seventh Avenue, where participants will learn about famous architecture and the families who lived in the neighborhood, and how they are related to the Marston family.
Tours will be available until Labor Day every Saturday and Sunday. Each is 40 to 50 minutes and costs $10, or $20 for all three, including the Marston House Museum tour.

Participate in ArtWalk on the Bay!
The sixth annual ArtWalk on the Bay is looking for participating artists for the festival on Sept. 10 and 11. The two-day festival will take place at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Park, and will feature community visual and performing arts.
