OCEAN BEACH — Students in Electric Music Studios’ “weekend warriors” program, ages 6-12, and the studio’s advanced group, ages 12-18, will be performing live gigs at Portugalia restaurant on Sunday, Oct. 3. The beginner group’s rock performance will begin at 1 p.m. and feature covers from popular contemporary rock bands like Green Day, Nirvana and Dream Theater. Following the first performance, the advanced group will put on a heavy metal/goth show. The students have been practicing together for several weeks at Electric Music Studios, located in Studio D of The Electric Chair Salon in Ocean Beach. The students give a live performance once a month, playing song styles of their choice. In preparation for next month, the students have already chosen a new theme — “guitar gods” — featuring covers of Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan.
