A vehicle crashed into a building in La Jolla the afternoon of March 16, leaving the driver and a bystander injured.
The crash happened at Dick’s Liquor store, at 801 Pearl St.
A woman in her 80s was at a gas station across the street and suddenly crossed the road into the store. She sustained a severe ankle injury and hit a bystander, who appeared to have minor injuries, police said.
The woman’s son-in-law, Mark Vandoren, stopped by the scene to check on her following the crash.
“If this was a newer car,” he said, “there would probably be a heck of a lot more damage. I’ve driven the car – it’s like a tank.”
