An experienced retail couple that took their clothing concept from Palm Desert, upgrading it into the heart of the village, will celebrate their new store on Fay Avenue with a reception on Thursday, Dec. 13.
Donna Marsh used the feedback from La Jolla clientele who loyally came to her Palm Desert store called Edith Morre’ to create what she calls the Palm Desert Concept. Marsh and her husband Mark Steinback bought the property at 7712 Fay Ave., and using their decades of retail experience, created the 5,500-square-foot store to target shoppers in their 20s to those in their 70s.
“We have something for everyone,” Marsh said. “When someone walks in, there’s something for them to wear.”
Marsh has nooks and crannies spread throughout the store, each with a different theme, from those that resemble today’s trendiest denim bars and boutiques for the younger generations to a couture gown room and jewelry station, all with the hottest designers.
A client can walk in and get her jewelry, a handbag and a gown with label names such as Badgley Mischka and Sue Wong.
In the denim room, Marsh has a range of jeans, from hot designers including Hudson and Rich and Skinny to a more “missy” cut. The entire store has sizes ranging from 2 to 16.
But Marsh said her goal for the store is to help the customer. She found that she had customers from La Jolla and San Diego returning to the Palm Desert store every year. She decided to expand the target age group, adding more selection in the La Jolla store, but she kept the basic concept of catering to the customer.
“There will be six sales associates to help the customers for whatever their needs,” Marsh said. “When you walk in that door, we should have something for you, and we’ll give true help to a customer to accommodate their needs.”
